The MID Kit (Mature ID Kit) came about sometime in early January, 2015 while Impact Pardons – Home to Digital Digits – was handing out KID Kits at a local gathering of kids and parents. A young mother of two children aged 4 and 7 asked if she could get a couple extra kits for her and her husband. KID Kits are free to anyone who happens by our table so I said she could certainly take a couple extra. As she was taking the extra kits, she said she and her husband would fill out a kit, too.
That got me thinking about older people who travel for pleasure, those who are in retirement homes or those people who must travel for business. Might their families not benefit from having solid ID information like DNA, fingerprints and photos of their loved ones stored safely at home?
Why do I need a MID Kit?
Being a retired military person, I immediately recalled the extensive travel schedule I had for 25 years. I thought of calling the kit a Military ID Kit (MID Kit) but that wasn’t universal enough. I ruled out Adult ID Kit for obvious reasons and settled on Mature ID Kit (MID Kit).
Each MID Kit has a place for their name, address, DOB, gender, height, weight, eye and hair colour, as well as descriptors like birthmarks, tattoos, piercings, etc. The standard things like photos, fingerprints, blood type and DNA options are also available.
I don’t mean to be ‘dark’ or negative in suggesting no one expects to not return from vacation or a holiday or a train trip or a cruise or a business trip, but sometimes, that is the case.
Not to put too fine a point on it but no one who boarded Germanwings Flight 4U 9525 from Barcelona to Duesseldorf back in March 2015, ever thought they wouldn’t go home again.
Having a MID Kit complete and available for your loved ones should anything untoward ever happen to you, is like having life insurance; it’s there should they ever need it.
The kit is completely self-contained and can be kept in a sock drawer, the fridge, or even in a safety deposit box.
Live your life. Enjoy your life to the fullest. Protect and provide security for your family. If you think you would like a MID Kit, visit or call Impact Pardons.
